Charles Graves and his wife, Karen
Pator Charles Graves comes to the Woodward First United Methodist Church from Frederick, Oklahoma where he was the pastor from 1993 to 2008. He and his wife, Karen, have two daughters.
Charles writes that when it comes to worship and preaching, he's not into a lot of liturgy. He can appreciate it, but the churches he's pastored seemed to respond to more informal Orders of Worship with more songs and less responsive readings. He's more laid back in his approach to leading worship, but never irreverent. His sermons tend to be teaching oriented - more "how to apply" Scripture and Biblical principles to life. Some sermons will deal with topics of lay interest, some deal with hard questions of life and some deal with money and stewardship. Charles uses a variety of sermon styles, depending on the time of year, what's going on, and the needs of the people. He enjoys learning more about preaching and worship.
